Wood on the Walls

In my Do It Yourself day dreams I imagine myself surrounded by walls with a little more character than Orange Peel or Skip Trowel textures.  They're covered with wood... only I went and wrecked them all up with fantastic paint colors.

So naturally after spending most of Sunday in a lucid state of day dreaming my way through wainscotting the entire house, I wanted to share some of my inspiring images with my fantastic readers!

Only, after getting half way through gathering my pics for this post I checked my Google Reader to find that my skinny southern toile loving high heel sporting sister The Nester was having the same dream.... and she posted first.  So, I'll let her advise you all on the bonus's of fantastic trim work while I just show you the pics.  Arg... I hate being 13 hours too late! It's like finding the perfect thing at Good Will and taking it to the checkout only to find out that it was half price YESTERDAY!

Picures?!?  Right!  Coming right up!  LOVE these walls.

These are great too!  Somehow, I believe that if I had wainscot on my walls there would never be fingerprints.  I told you I was in a lucid state on Sunday....a loony and lucid state.  In reality, it just means that I wouldn't be scrubbing paint off the walls while trying to remove peanutbutter and jelly or the well adhered booger.  Nester's house doesn't have boogers on the wall.  I'm sure of it.

No PB&J, No boogers.... just clean shiny walls.  Clean... painted wood.  Ahhh.....

Where could you use a little wainscot?

So weird - decorating "dreamers" must all be on the same wavelegnth this weekend! I do have some barn (?) board in my dining room that we were JUST talking about repainting. AND, I started researching some beadboard for a backsplace on my kitchen! Well, "great" minds think alike and all that! Hope you get your own painted wood someday soon!

I just spent half of Saturday priming all the board and batten I did in my bedroom (only the main wall) and have been dreaming about where else I can add wood to the walls. Must be a bug going around. All those pictures made me want to transform the house today!!

I would love to do that by my stairs. It looks so good in those pictures.

I wanted to do this in my boys' bedroom. I saw a fabulous example in one of the models we toured when looking for our home. Cutest boys bedroom ever. Maybe someday I'll actually get to doing it.

I have wainscoting on the lower portion of my living room. It's currently still a wood color b/c I can't convince the hubby to paint it white. The more I Live with it, the more I love it in wood & want more all over the house to match it. So, I would add it in my dining room & entry way. And going up the stairs, of course.

I, too, love walls with a little character! I never understand why, on some of the decorating shows, the designers so often think they have to cover paneling with sheetrock and THEN paint it. I LOVE the look of painted paneling! It was a happy, happy day at Casa St. Michael when St. Michael finally said to go ahead and paint over our den paneling . . . I love the look! (Hated the labor, but love the results!) Thanks for these gorgeous pics to brighten a dreary gray day here in downtown Seabrook, Texas. ;D

Grins!

Gorgeous! I have been 'undecided' about wainscoting for years, but these pictures really helped push me to pro-wainscotting! LOL!

Is "The Nester" really your sister? If I understood you correctly, how fun! My sister and I are always doing stuff like that :) I LOVE woodwork on walls- wainscotting in the dining room is on our list of "wants" for our house :)

Yikes! No, Nester isn't really my sister! She's my Sista. Kindred spirits -only she live far away, wears fabulous shoes and prefers lattes while I'd prefer a good hot cocoa! She is a doll though and one of my dearest blog mentors.

Sorry but I had a great laugh at the booger comment. My son who is 20 now was notorious for sticking those things on the wall next to his bed. He would totally deny it!

Sorry you were 13 hours too late. I still enjoyed the post! I don't have wainscoting or beadboard but my house did come with gorgeous molding throughout. I'm realizing that not everyone has it so I'm grateful to our builder. :)
