Kitchen Cabinet Make-Overs

For any of you curious friends who are new to my palace I'll reveal a well known secret... I paint. Not just casually... habitually. Like, the kind of habitual that makes my husband hyperventilate every time I go to the garage for a can... He is The Protector and Defender of All Things Wood... (I may just need to make him a cape!)

Truth: For a mom of 6, it's the ONLY thing in a day I can do and come back to at night and it stays done. Really, I paint a room and I feel like I just moved a mountain (I probably had to move a mountain of clothes just to get to the project but.. that's another post.) I feel great when I paint- hubby argues that it's just the fumes.

So, all you project happy people out there... here's one of my goals... I'm Paint'n dem kitchen cabinets in 2009 {husband is running for the paper bag}. I just love how they don't all have to match!

A little inspiration... More to come in later posts.

AND... Sometimes is IS better to just yank the doggone doors off completely!

Love them! I'm getting ready to paint my bathroom cabinets, I'm just not sure what yet???? (our kitchen is white now, so I wanted to do something different) My husband is in the process of tiling the counter tops, so I need something new to go with them, don't you think? I'm thinking black????
Can't wait to see your before and after pics!!!! :)

Meet another painter..I painted my old kitchen cabinets in our last home. Using Bin primer was key. Did not have to strip first! It worked out beautifully! My next project in my new home is to paint the brick wall in our kitchen. Good luck & keep painting!

Most men are protectors of the natural wood. I don't get it.

I've always wanted to paint mine also, maybe you'll be my inspiration!! I'll have to wait for summer break when I have more time but I know the color scheme already.
To feed my creative side, which I did not know I had, I am making mosaic/resin jewelry. Oh yeah, just wait till you see it!
And, a picof the bath is coming to you soon, I haven't forgotten!

Yeah, me too, I'm wondering where the pictures came from. I know they can't be yours if you're still going to paint right? If so, calm down! they're gorgeous as they are! Be sure and post before and after pics!!!

I've had two homes where I painted my kitchen cabinets, and another where we did a "real" renovation and put in new ones. I much prefer the cozy look and creativity of painting myself. Now, I'm in another house and the cabinets are hopelessly dated. I'm so excited! I haven't broken the news to my DH yet, but I'm getting my paintbrush dusted off and gathering color samples.

Go for it! Those photos are wonderful! I would love to hear about the experience after you paint the cabinets. It seems like an overwhelming job, but one that would be so satisfying. I love it! :)

I have been trying to decide if I should paint my cabinets black or french white or just leave them alone! I will be anxious to see your before and after shots.
