Routines: A Summer Fitness Challenge

Welcome Inspired Room Beautiful Life Readers!   I'm so excited to have my little punk-a-noodles home for summer. With that excitement also comes the added chaos of having 6 chill'ns at home and keeping life on schedule.

My fitness schedule usually suffers but, not this year! Want to join me? This is what I'm going to do to keep myself on track:
First, I'm going to eat everything in the fridge... just kidding. See all of that green? My skinny husband tells me that's what makes you thin... hmm... I thought it was all those antioxidants in the dark chocolate I was eating... don't want any of those "free radicals" running amok in my bod.

A friend sent me a link to the blog MoveItandGrooveIt.... its a contest YOU can enter. No, I'm not brave enough to enter... but you might be!

I'll be participating via blogland. Here's the rules:
You get 1 point for each of the following:
  • 30 minute workout
  • No Soda (even diet)
  • No Sweets (I'm gonna die... does unsweetened chocolate count?)
  • Drinking 48 oz of water per day
  • No eating within 2 hours of bed
  • 7 hours of sleep
  • 5 servings of fruits and veggies

There are 2 freebie points a week that are for your oops moments and if you get a perfect score for the week you get 2 more bonus points! At the end of your set time, you get to add a bonus point for every pound you lost.

Now, grab a friend to work with and make your own reward for the winner! Who's in?

The first thing I thought was "no soda?? no sweets??" How could I ever do that? Then I was reminded that I did exactly that a few years ago and went from a size 14 to a size 6. Almost ten lbs have crept back on, so this is probably a good time to nip it--nip it in the bud! Thanks for the motivation! And good luck to you!

Good luck! I'm hoping the whole family does it. I'm doing a bodybuilding diet with a personal trainer this summer, and it's rough. The more people on the wagon around me the better!

I love it. Are you just wanting us to post our daily points in the comments section. Or just keep track of them for ourselves?

I'm willing to join in. I'm diabetic, so I drink diet sodas and eat no-sugar-added desserts, but I'll give them up for this 6 weeks. My husband will be my cheerleader, and my biggest incentive is a week-long cruise in September to celebrate our 25th anniversary!

I am a little bit scared. I don't think I can survive without a mocha for more than 2 days. ;)

I've started the no eating 2 hours before bed, but to give up sweets! Oh, help me now!! :) This would really be the hardest part. But I could stand to lose a few lbs, so I'll give this a try!

I think I'll have to take the challenge...I've been "dieting" since March and have lost a (insert sarcasm here) whopping 15 lbs. This would be a great thing if I wasn't 5'10" and quite overweight and have lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks when I'm really working at it. I'm going to try this ONE WEEK...ONE WEEK! Do ya hear me?...and if I don't lose more than 2 lbs then it's back to my goofing around dieting...slow and steady...cause I HEART sweets.

This is very inspiring. At work I sit all day and I know I need a kick in the pants! I already gave up diet soda a long time ago, but giving up sweets would certainly be a challenge. By the way, I was going through some of your older posts and love all the history in the photos on your walls.

Hey lady,
These are some good habits to get into. And heaven knows I need it! The only one I'm not sure about is the eating before bedtime. From the research I've done, eating before bed has nothing to do with losing weight. Your body can digest food any any time of the day. The only reason it's unhealthy is that digestion can use up energy which can disturb your sleep cycles. And, should you go to be hungry, that also can disturb your sleep. I can see where there tends to be a habit of eating unhealthy food before bed. They say not to go to bed starving, but not to eat a large meal before sleep, too. I could adapt it to improving my health, but it shouldn't be part of a wieght-loss plan.

Just my two cents :o)! Again, these are some great goals for getting this bod back in shape!

Hi,
Am on! Am very active lil lady but after my complicated ops last April 15, 2009, I stopped doing my activities and I can feel am swollen everywhere §:-)

I still hard to move but trying to walk as much as I can. A tip is: buy a step counter. This really helps. I started 10 thousand steps everyday & after awhile up to 16- 6o 18 thousand till I was hospitalised.

Now, have 8 thousand and hopefully reach 10t nxt week.

Hope many lady will do for a better health above all.

Happy W/end!

I got your email about this...you go girl! I have fallen off the bandwagon and really need to get back on. Mainly with eating more raw, and exercising. I was doing so great for three months and then gave it up for "lent." :)Just getting home after a whirlwind week and a half. So good to be home.
