Announcing: From 8 to 14 at the Dinner Table.

I thought you might want to know our good news! We're pulling a few more chairs up to this dinner table... well, actually, we'll have to get another dinner table. We're adopting 6 more children next month! Now, most of you are all rolling your eyes, some of you choked on your breakfast... What?!?! WHY? Well, the truth is I don't have enough jelly on my floor and I love cleaning toilets. No. Seriously, it all boils down to love. This family is bubbling over with plenty of it and my 12 year old has been asking when we're adopting again.

Of course we haven't told him that his bunkbed will look more like this than the one he has now. We're still working on logistics. Our house is 2200 sf. and that means all storage everywhere has to go vertical! Beds... up, dressers... up up... messes.... up up up! I know it's totally going to be crazy the first month or so but I'm sure with a little Pretty Organizing things will be humm'n soon enough... or so hubby said... {with a smile and a slight nervous twitch} The best thing: I get to trade in my 12 passenger van for a 15 passenger van which when totals are figured will give us 1 extra seat for a friend! I know... I'm a total dork that I've even fallen in love with such a beastly piece of machinery. Honestly, these things are fabulous!

I own the road! I just signal and traffic stops to let me through... well, unless it's one of those cute boutique malls with the tiny BMW parking spaces... total annoyance to do my 15 point turn just to get that 15 passenger van parked in front of the Godiva chocolate shop for a quick choc"y" fix. Grr..

Found these on Craig's list! Aren't they perfect? I think I'm going to paint them to match my cabinets.. chocolate brown and cream. They'll have to go in the entry which will totally be an eyesore but the alternative is even more grim... Our new kiddos are all in school-12 backpacks? Yikes!
Here's the real dilemma... well, if you can get passed the fact that we only have 3 bathrooms in this house 2 of which have showers... I'm still stuck on that one... need to join a gym and shower there. Anyway... the real dilemma is where to put all of the food! We only have 1 fridge and already I'm buying 7 gallons of milk a week! I either need a cow or this fridge plus a freezer out back!

The best part... Nester girl, being the completely kind hearted do-gooder and Christian woman she is, offered to come and help out with decorating and getting this place workable. Honestly girls, I can't say enough about this girl. She's way in for a challenge... I don't have any urns and if I did they'd have to hold something like Barbie heads or Leggo wheels. She says that she'll still be able to do her stuff if I provide enough upholstery tacks, fabric, paint, bird nests, and a little pocket change for a Goodwill run. Good heavens this is going to be fun!! I wish she'd invite Remodeling Guy to come with her to add on another wing!
Any suggestions on how to pile 12 kids into 4 rooms?

Wow! As I read your post, I thought for sure that when I reached the bottom, your last line would say, April Fools!!
You and your husband are amazing people!
But, I can appreciate where you're coming from. I have 8 younger siblings...and living in a big family is the BEST! It's something I have always been grateful to my parents for.
Lots of luck to you all!
Hugs, Debi

WOW!

(this isn't an April Fools post is it?)

You and your husband are just amazing! It's really nice to see kind and caring people.

Good luck with the storage issues! (wonder if those wardrobes from Ikea...the wall units you see in Europe might help)

oh my goodness - it is
April Fool's. Quite honestly though, you've played this trick on the wrong girl since my brother DOES have that exact van, they do have 10 in TWO ROOM. They do have the bunk beds lined up like that with 6 boys in three sets and then an adjacent "sitting room." And, honestly, no joke - they finally, after three years of waiting, found out they could bring their "baby" boy with special needs home from Equador. They met him in the orphanage four years ago and have been trying to adopt him every since. have to been to visit him etc, but their country closed down - lots of red tape. So....was it all a joke? Even the Nester part? I fell for it hook, line and sinker.
But mine - isn't a joke. :) It's a miracle.

Are you gonna say "APRIL FOOL" later today? Nevertheless if this is true, congrats on obtaining a family of 6! Your blog took a very very interesting turn according to me in a good way. I'm sure you'll be doling out storage and management tips!! Hummm, about bathrooms- could you reserve one for girls and one for boys? Could you manage to tuck in a shower in a nook? If you live out in country, how about outdoor shower?

Okay, I'm almost positive this is an April Fool's prank, but I wouldn't it past you, so I'll be waiting to hear the truth (either way) tomorrow. ;-)

If this is an April Fool's joke, it's a brilliant one. And if it is not... wow. GOOD LUCK! You are amazing, either way!

Hahahaha - my parents adopted 5 children at the same time and it was quite an adjustment, but talk about a house full of love and excitement! I was pretty sure it was true until I read the comments - lol.

One question...where did you find the picture of that table? I need a new dining room table for my brood!

O.k. when I see toile...I think of you. So when I saw some on another blog I decided to stop by! What a blessing! Now since you posted this on April 1st. I am a little hesitant...but you wouldn't do that...you're the toile lady...so if they are little boys and they need clothes...I'm willing to ship free of charge to Arizona...So. Cal is pretty close.
