You Know it's Time to Change the Sheets When:

  1. You put your toes under the covers and feel crumbs.... which after further investigation you conclude are the leftover cookie crumbs from the cookies that were hi-jacked from the jar (You found it empty in your moment of cookie desperation) and quite literally kept "under covers."
  2. You lay down on your pillow and catch a whiff of what smells part construction worker, part Suave, and part spit up. After further thought you realize there were several days in the week where the shower never quite happened... even though it was planned. You wince when you realize that indescribable odor was created by you... but hey, you can always wash it tomorrow...
  3. Your husband asks "Why does the bed smell like pee? I didn't pee the bed." At that point you remember you let the toddler take a nap in your bed. Hmm... no wonder why she changed her clothes again.
  4. The sheets remind you of the moments when your older huskier boy tries to wear his favorite shirt which no longer fits. The elastic corners ride up until they pop off the bed E.V.E.R.Y. Night!
  5. You can't remember when you last washed the sheets.
Keeping it real... I'm washing my sheets today.
So, while I'm laundering sheets that have become one size to small and trying to scrape all of the cooking crumbs from between my toes, you can think about this:

How about updating your sheets or bedding with a little fabric paint? The green bedding above has been given a makeover.

How To:
  1. Use vinyl sticky back shelf paper to create a stencil. Peel and stick to fabric.
  2. Using paint mixed with a fabric paint conditioner or medium, stencil those old bedding duds back to life!
  3. Peel stencil off while paint is still a little wet... this prevents the painted surface from peeling as well.
Don't forget to give those pillows a face lift too!

Anyone else washing sheets today? Laundress's Unite! Uggg.... send chocolate stat!

So real so true.
It gave me a good laugh after a bad day at work. Just what I needed.

Oh so funny!

I make apoint of washing our sheets every Monday. After our long weekends of hard labor they really, really need to be washed!

This is so funny - mostly because I totally relate! I am horrible at changing the sheets. We have a king size waterbed. It's awful. I love the idea of painting them - never would have thought.

That was a funny post but true. Sometimes you don't even need to get close to the bed to smell bad odors coming from the bed! I'm a neat freak and everybody is always giving me a hard time... Oh how much I love the smell of a clean sheet...

Sheets are getting cleaned tommorrow They are experiencing the same symptons you listed. Really have to make more of an effort to do them sooner than later!

I've been there! I've implemented a new cleaning schedule here lately and Mondays are deemed 'kitchen and sheets' days. The kitchen gets a quick cleaning and the sheets get changed. After coming off a weekend of clothes laundry, the sheets just roll right in.
Of course, this week it didn't happen until Tuesday, but at least changing the sheets is on the schedule now.
I hate to remember how I didn't change the sheets for months and months when I was a teen. Yikes!

We do sheets on a rotating basis. My problem is I have a Cal-King bed and I wish I had more sheet sets. Thanks for the makeover tip with the sheets. I might try a little updating. It's just too expensive for me to buy new ones for my bed. Blessings!

Monday is sheet changing day. (Monday's already tough, so why not pile it on and get the suckiest parts out of the way all in one day, right?)

Interesting idea with the fabric painting... hmmm.

I hate to fold sheets, so I only have two sets--flannel for winter and cotton for summer. I wash the sheets once a week and put them right back on the bed. That way I'm only folding sheets twice a year!

Did you know Oprah has her sheets changed daily?

So funny:) You need to buy the 4 pack of 'elastic garter thingies' made for sheets. They attach and stretch over each corner and keep the sheet from slipping off.

LOL because I found crumbs too...and The General and I had NOT eaten in bed...we were alarmed until we realized on of The Princesses had snuck in there to cuddle. HEHE.

I LOVE the stencil idea. AWESOME. I have to try that!

Many Blessings :)

Oh my. I SO identified with this post. I have to admit I've smelled ALL of those, maybe even at the same time!
There's nothing better than crawling in between clean sheets. Enjoy!

I'm embarrassed to say that I'm guilty of a few of these!

Hysterical! I'm sure it's true but it gave me the giggles. I don't have kids and yet somehow I know a few of these all too well!!
